As the official kick-off of July starts, I am always amazed at how proud I feel when 4th of July rolls around.

Proud to be an American, proud of our soldiers near and far, proud that I live in a country that supports freedom and independence.

I have had the honor and privilege of capturing portraits of military families in our area and I always get a bit emotional when I look through the lens at children wrapped in uniforms; moms and dads holding their children, knowing full-well that at sometime they will need to be separated so that the parent can perform the duties that pledged to do when they joined our military.

I am blessed and fortunate to live in this great country and thankful for those who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms that make our country incredible.  Happy 4th of July to you and yours!
